ATIKU & TRUMP ARE BESTIES?
After Trump described Buhari as “lifeless” last year when the two met, it was obvious the president of the United States had no respect for Mohammed Buhari, however, he did agree to meet Atiku (then APC Presidential aspirant- now a source of contention to the Buhari administration). Whether the two met at the time was not shared with the press, but these two businessmen do share common ground.
The US is now placing a Visa ban on individuals it believed were engaged in electoral fraud, inadvertently supporting Atiku’s claim of rigging in the 2019 election in favour of the All Progressives Congress and President Muhammadu Buhari.
Atiku, in a statement, on Wednesday maintained that the poll was rigged and not credible, insisting that he won the election. He alleged that the APC, Buhari and his allies engaged in propaganda to deny that the election was rigged.
Atiku is now facing the Buhari administration, whom he accuses of living in denial.
“The Secretary of State is imposing visa restrictions on Nigerians believed to be responsible for, or complicit in undermining democracy in Nigeria. These individuals have operated with impunity at the expense of the Nigerian people and undermined democratic principles and human rights.”
The statement supports Atiku’s claim that the 2019 elections were “undermined by the actions of state actors and institutions.”
He thanked the United States of America for standing against election corruption and urged Nigerians not to despair.
With this ban supporting Atiku’s claim, are Trump & Atiku secret besties?
