Ava Simmons STEM entrepreneur is inspiring kids like herself

Ava Simmons, STEM entrepreneur is inspiring kids like herself. Meet Ava Simmons, she is only 8 years old.

While at 8 many kids are playing dolls or video games, Ava Simmons is a STEM entrepreneur intent on inspiring other kids like herself. Check out her youtube channel where her mom extensively documents her work!

She created Team Genius Squad, based on her own academic challenges for several years. Ava had daily challenges with her educational instructors and peers for being a poor performer and she was teased for not understanding classroom material and excluded from friendships and cliques.

Not knowing what her learning style was caused Ava to experience bouts of discouragement and low self-esteem. This experience catapulted Ava to learn and entertain herself and others in a different manner.

Through the utilization of visual aids (videos), scripting skits, and her creative talents (i.e. developing designs, generating chemical reactions, singing, making people smile), the eight-year-old genius identified her niche.

During the pandemic, Ava’s first S.T.E.M experiment video was released on YouTube in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, “How To Make Hand Sanitizer At Home.” Due to the overwhelming response, Ava began a S.T.E.M. video series that includes easy-to-follow experiments and entrepreneurial ventures (e.g., branding) with personalized skits.

These videos were her way of sharing with and encouraging others to know that you can do anything with a little fun and the appropriate methods for your learning style. The development and production of these videos assisted Ava with improving her reading and math skills significantly and also gave birth to Ava The S.T.E.M Princess®, the CEO, GeniusEO of Team Genius Squad. The Taglines, “Be The Genius You Are!” and “#TeamGeniusSquad” has become well known throughout social media.

To date, Ava The S.T.E.M. Princess® has grown 90,000 followers on social networks, and almost 15,000 subscribers on YouTube. Learn more about her on afrotech!
