In 2017, a new female rapper hit the scene, Cardi B. Although she had had major success as a social media personality and reality TV star, and some success as a rapper in previous years, she was seeing the biggest success of her career so far with her newest hit “Bodak Yellow”. 

 

 

The catchy song which was essentially a remix of a Kodak Black song was gaining a lot of traction. Her new music label Atlantic allegedly pushing the single towards radio to make the song a big hit on the billboard charts. 

 

 

Released June 16, 2017, the single went on to top the Billboard Hot 100 as well as break multiple records which boosted of the rapper into mainstream stardom.
