Choose Your Own Adventure, or Secret Path Books was a series of children’s gamebooks where each story is written from a first-person point of view, with the reader assuming the role of the protagonist and making choices that determine the main character’s actions and the plot’s outcome.
In Artnoise 2020 open residency program participants are given the option to create an inspiring journey through Togo on its path to reclaim some of post-colonial history with its contemporary scene.
In 2019, Togo announced plans to turn an old colonial monument into an art gallery. As of 2020, the gallery is now accessible to visitors, showcasing both traditional and contemporary art pieces.
This move is in line with the region’s goals for reclaiming its routes and forging pan Africanism, heralded by Ghana with its “year of return campaign.”
Artnoise open program curates an experience which includes exploring the city of Lome as well as diving into other regions of Togo and learning more about its history.
The adventure begins in Lome, moves on to Kpalime, Bafilo and surrounding regions.
Creators especially those in the digital space are encouraged to forage into Togolese culture and explore the region in a different way.
This program is also set to help creators strengthen their skills as well as source new content for their platforms.
A region like Togo which is still fairly unknown in the digital space is a great space to start its 2020 adventure and perhaps shine more light on the region’s attempts.
Worth noting is Togo is a more tropical region with majorly French speakers.
