As coronavirus continues to spread, worldometers.info is reporting over 120,000 confirmed cases. Jobs and certain industries are seeing a major impact, in particular, some of these are seeing rises and falls.
If you are in any of these industries/jobs, time to brace up (for the better or worse). Here are 10 jobs and industries that will be impacted by Coronavirus Pandemic.
1. Travel Industry
As the virus spreads, fears about travelling have heightened. Although surprisingly, low fares rates are boosting the online conversation about certain travel brands and apps. Artnoise is choosing to postpone its Togo Program originally scheduled for March in light of the virus, but the Ghana, London and Lagos programs are still slotted at their times, which you can learn more about here.

2. Hospitality Industry
Alongside the travel industry, the hospitality industry is also facing a serious hit as more people shun travel for staying at home. Airbnb is already feeling the impact.
3. Foods & Restaurant Jobs
One of the quickest hit industry has been the foods and restaurant jobs. Chinese restaurants have been hit the hardest by racially fueled boycotts immediately after the origin of the virus was announced. Globally, however, foods and restaurants have seen a significant drop in traffic.

4. Finance Industry
If you are in the fintech industry, the coronavirus pandemic will most likely work in your favour as more and more people switch to online shopping and exchange of money. Not to mention stock trading and investment platforms might also see an increase with more people forced to work from home or lose their 9-5 jobs, online investing will most likely become more of an option, click here to read more on investment and divestment. However, if you work in a bank, you might see more of a decline in foot traffic at bank halls, but this might probably be a more positive impact.
5. Healthcare Industry
One of the major industries to be impacted for the better from this situation is the healthcare industry. Discuss for free healthcare campaigns is currently open and if you would like to join the campaign in West Africa, click here. Healthcare companies are franticly working to develop a cure, vaccine or treatment and safety. Sanitizers are flying off the shelf (if you would like to order now at an affordable price, click here to learn more) and hospitals are fuller than ever as the healthcare world comes together to battle this pandemic.
6. Entertainment Industry
As of 12th of March 2020, two of the biggest names in Hollywood Tom Hanks and wife, as well as major NBA player Rudy Gobert, tested positive for the Coronavirus, putting production on hold and cancelling the NBA league indefinitely. What this means for the Entertainment Industry is more delays on scheduled movie premiers, less traffic at cinemas, no NBA games, no concerts and other entertainment that require going out. On the flip side, if you are in the online entertainment industry which includes YouTubers, twitchers, Netflix and more, this might mean an increase in online entertainment consumption and a potential payday for entertainers in this media. If you have ever wanted to start a twitch account or youtube account, you might want to consider starting that now.

With more people choosing to hang back at home and many schools including Harvard choosing to switch to online classes, ISP/Telecommunications is one of Jobs and Industries that will be impacted by Coronavirus Pandemic (this time positively). This switch to online will see a bigger demand for wifi, data and online communications. Companies in ISP and telecommunications are about to have the biggest year since the internet was invented.

8. Online Media Entertainers
If you are a tik toker (like Charli, you can read about her here), Instagram comedian and other social media entertainers and influencers, this might be your biggest year. With more people staying indoors and spending more and more time online, social media and other entertainers might be seeing a spike in traffic. This also applies to news platforms currently gaining more traffic from the online population trying to figure out the current status on the virus. Not to mention tweets even slightly related to the virus are gaining millions of retweets and likes (not always for the best). Another industry that should see an increase is the logistics industry. Despite the need for less travel, people still need to get products and services and are opting to order online. This means logistics and delivery services should see a rise.
While many people don’t regard religion as an industry (it isn’t really), the institution is also suffering impact with the coronavirus. Italy cancelling all religious gathering until the pandemic is under control. Only time will tell what the long term impact of this might be.
