Leapers celebrate their birthday

Why do we have leap years? A leap year is essentially an extra day in February which is the 29th. It occurs every 4 years according to our calendar.
Now, imagine being born on the on 29 February, according to BBC about 5 million people around the world celebrate their once-every-four-years ‘real’ birthday.
Birthdays are such a fun time in most people’s lives and unfortunately, most leapers have to make up for this by choosing to celebrate on February 28th or March 1st during other years, which is no fun.
